100 Things
- Unless they are plastic, I never put my lips on silverware.
- I like to listen to Hannah Montana or Miley Cyrus when I play Counterstrike.
- Things around my neck make me uneasy.
- My greatest fear is being helpless to others, and being helpless myself.
- I wish I could play the piano and harmonica.
- The first concert I ever saw was a Christmas show by the Temptations. I went with Abebe, and we were in the 5th grade.
- This is my football fan-hood chronology: Packers, Broncos, Titans, New York Giants.
- If I could meet anyone in the world — dead or alive — I’d want to meet Audrey Hepburn, Paul the Apostle, Jesus, Jackie Chan, C.S. Lewis, Michael Jackson, and Alexis Bledel. Although, if I had the chance to see Alexis Bledel walk down a grocery store aisle, I’d be content.
- Nine is my favourite number.
- I like to spell old, for lack of the correct term, although I am shy to use it outside of personal writing. Examples: Centre, theatre, colour, analyse, etc.
- I read on the toilet a lot, and I swear I stay as sanitary as possible.
- Growing up, I wanted to be a zoo keeper, a web designer, an anesthesiologist, a choreographer, a fashion designer, and an advertising manager. Now I’ve settled on medicine.
- I would love to visit Africa, Thailand, Laos, Japan, China, Paris, and the beaches of Normandy.
- Sometimes I wish I could have been a gamer phenomenon/professional gamer.
- I don’t think I will ever like seafood.
- If I were stranded on an island I would want to be stranded with either Solid Snake or Bear Grylls.
- I absolutely knew I wanted to play the cello in the 2nd grade, but I didn’t receive the opportunity to start until the 5th grade.
- The first girl that I ever knew that liked me was a girl named April. Our 1st grade class had a “Share About Yourself” day, and one of the activities was a sort of interview. One of the questions was, “Who do you most admire?” She answered, “Nate.” Coos erupted among my peers, but I hadn’t the slightest idea what admire meant.
- I am not a morning person. I set my alarm one hour ahead of when I should be up, and even then I still struggle getting out of bed.
- All of my alarms end in a ninth minute because 9 is my favorite number. Also, does it really matter that I can’t get up at 6:10 or 6:15? 1-6 minutes shouldn’t make that much of a difference — theoretically. For example: 6:09 AM.
- I recall asking my dad if church had a summer vacation, but I do not recall whether I was disappointed.
- I believe Lorelai and Luke should have married the first time around.
- I think Rory’s best boyfriend was Jess.
- I like to keep my nails short. I obsess over keeping them short.
- I think I want a big family, but I don’t want to contribute to overpopulation of the world. If anything, I want to have sex with my wife and savor the idea that I created life at least once. I guess I wouldn’t mind adopting the rest. (Read this one in a sort of sarcastic tone, although I’m not sure I’m being that sarcastic.)
- I am so appreciative of my family — especially my fathers, and especially my biological father.
- I remember that musical notes came to me as some sort of revelation when I was young. It wasn’t anything too special, but I find it interesting.
- I prefer grey socks, then black, then really silly and colorful ones. If none of those are clean, then I’ll settle for my whites.
- If I played football, I’d want to be a wide receiver or a corner back. If I’m really ambitious, I’d want to be a quarterback.
- The most substantial reason I grew my hair out in middle school was so that I would be able to head bang and have my hair fly all over.
- I think Michael Jackson is phenomenal. I don’t have many friends that love Michael as much as I do. I love him a lot. It’s like I idolize him, but I really don’t. I really do like him a lot, though.
- In the 6th grade, I wanted to make my voice deeper like Melvin Franklin. I told Abebe this while we were walking down the 6th grade hallway in the morning. When I replied in my deep voice, he said, “This isn’t going to work.” I stopped shortly thereafter.
- I used to drink a lot of soda.
- I stopped drinking soda because my hurdling coach told me to stop. I haven’t had soda regularly since my freshman year of high school. I occasionally drink it at social gatherings. Even then, I try to avoid it.
- Movies don’t really make me cry. But Relient K’s “I So Hate Consequences” and Usher’s “Burn” do. Schindler’s List is the only movie that has come close to making me cry. I cried uncontrollably during Michael Jackson’s memorial service; I started when Mariah Carey sang “I’ll Be There”; it made me realize that Michael was gone.
- My favourite story is any variation on The Prodigal Son.
- I went through this phase in my first two years at college where I usually skipped the last step when descending a flight of stairs. I think I did it to think I was giving myself a propulsion (as in to propel myself through hardship and to finish off any task strong), but, honestly, I think I did it just to be quirky.
- I would have stayed an extra year in high school just so I could compete in the hurdles at that level. I love the hurdles.
- I can eat two big macs without water in 00:03:27.
- I know that I can eat two big macs without water in 00:03:27 because I keep a text file of my personal records on my computer.
- I’m very fond of ties with bold stripes and great color schemes.
- I’m a skinny tie and bow tie kind of guy.
- I don’t think I’d mind wearing a shirt and tie everyday. I’d have a problem with the jacket though.
- Once, I pulled up to the adjacent car at a stop light. I looked over, and when the passenger looked over at me, I looked away. I looked back, and she motioned me to roll down my window. She then asked if I wanted her in a very forward manner. She was an older black lady that I wasn’t particularly attracted to. I felt very awkward, but, whenever I run into a red light, I find myself interested in repeating the scenario.
- I used to want to keep my shoe collection rather simple, but now I find myself wanting different colors.

- When I buy my own house, I want to deck it out with posters of classic films, nice pictures, and my favourite pop icons.
- I have a lot of Audrey Hepburn posters and frame-ups. I don’t intentionally look for them; they just sort of collect on their own. She’s so photogenic, so it’s really easy.

- If I could be a superhero, I would be Gambit.
- If I could be a video game character, it’d be a toss up between Revolver Ocelot and Raiden from the Metal Gear Solid series.

- When I buy a pair of shoes I put them through three mental tests: 1) Will they be good for soccer — especially juggling? 2) Are they decent to run in/they must not go above the ankle. 3) Can I climb trees and grip walls fine with them?
- While climbing a tree, I would jump off, regardless of the height, if a spider crawled onto my hand. If I reached a significant height where jumping off would be lethal, I would still fall and try to catch a lower branch, and in the process I would hopefully shake off the spider.

- One of my guilty pleasures are chick flicks. One of my favorites is Legally Blonde.
- I don’t think I would like being part of a class in an odd year. (i.e. 2013, 2015, etc.) Therefore I am glad that I am part of the graduating class of 2008, and hopefully 2012 and 2016. It’s also awesome that the Olympics fall on my graduating years.
- When I get a new music CD I notice the insert and which way is facing which. If it isn’t the way I think it should be I fix it. Whenever I get a new disc-item (DVD, CD, etc.) I make sure that the CDs aren’t upside down.
